How to Apply

There is no fee to apply for the Gerda Lissner International Vocal Competition.

The form must be postmarked by October 1, 2008.

All fields must be filled in, either typed or printed.

Please, include all the following documents and be advised that any omission will render your application ineligible:

* Submission Materials - Include the following materials for evaluation.

  1. Your completed application form and an updated resume
  2. A photograph, preferably an 8 x 10 glossy portrait
  3. A sampling of recent opera reviews, or other accolades
  4. A list of four arias that you will present to the judges if selected for the live audition.
  5. A recording of two arias
  6. Photocopy of a valid ID, Passport, or birth certificate
  7. Two signed and sealed letters of recommendation by two qualified individuals in the opera world regarding your ability.

The recording may come in the form of a CD, DVD, or VHS (NTSC format only), and should consist of 2 Arias only - no opera performances, duets, or art songs.

There is no language requirement for the general competition. For the Wagnerian competition the language requirement is German.

Please have your CD and/or video cued at your performance and label both the recording and its cover with your name and your selections.

For CD/DVD from foreign countries, please be certain they are compatible with the U.S. Standard.

If you wish to have your photographs or tapes returned, enclose appropriate stamped, self-addressed envelope(s).
