Information RE: the Competition

The Gerda Lissner International Vocal Competition is held yearly in New York City to determine the recipients of the Gerda Lissner Awards. This yearís competition will be held in March, 2009.

The competition is divided into two parts: The competition is open to singers who are pursuing a musical education, and are ready to begin or have just begun a professional career in the Opera. The competition is judged by a panel comprised of prestigious professionals in the music world.

All participants in the competition are granted an award in amounts ranging from $2,000 to $15,000, based upon placement in the competition. The Foundation pays for travel, by train or air, and hotel accommodation for the selected participants who live outside of the Tri-State area.

Only if selected, applicants will be notified in early/mid December by email or phone if they are invited to participate in the live audition.
