Each year The Gerda Lissner Foundation invites three conservatories from around the country to pair established vocal artists with emerging young artists in performance at New York Public Radio’s Greene Space. Performances are live-streamed internationally, and highlights are broadcast on WQXR’s The Young Artists Showcase. Our 2026–27 series opens Sunday, November 15 with the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, whose elite young singers will share the stage with two of CCM’s own – countertenor John Holiday and tenor Robert Stahley – both of whom are former Gerda Lissner International Vocal Competition prize winners.

Countertenor John Holiday made his Met debut in 2021, in Eurydice, and returned to the company in 2022 for the world premiere of The Hours. His roles at Bayerische Staatsoper, Dutch National Opera, Glimmerglass, LA Opera and other companies include the title roles in Akhnaten, Xerxes and Julius Caesar. He received the 2017 Marian Anderson Vocal Award.

Tenor Robert Stahley made his Met debut in 2024, in Die Zauberflöte. This season, he makes his role debut as Bacchus in Opera Omaha’s Ariadne auf Naxos and joins Seattle Opera for Salome. Previous seasons have included appearances at Glyndebourne, Santa Fe Opera and Glimmerglass.

The series continues with Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music on March 23, 2027 and The Juilliard School of music in the Fall of 2027.
